Aster Points Explained: Stage 6 "Convergence" Mechanics

Program mechanics verified against official Aster docs (Stage 6) on 2026-07-17.

Aster's points program sits on different ground than most perp-DEX incentive schemes covered on this site (see our full Aster hub). Where several rivals leave the airdrop connection to community speculation, Aster's Stage 6 docs say it outright: points are "Aster Stage 6 Airdrop points for trading on Aster Perpetual and Spot," and they "accumulate toward your $ASTER airdrop share at the conclusion of Stage 6." That's an officially documented commitment, not an inference from a roadmap post.

What the docs don't say matters just as much. The points-to-token conversion ratio, the total allocation reserved for the airdrop, and the exact end date of Stage 6 are all unstated. The link to an airdrop is confirmed; what a point is actually worth is not. This page keeps those two facts separate — the rest of the internet often doesn't.

The verified mechanics

Points accrue in weekly epochs, Monday 00:00 UTC through Sunday 23:59 UTC, and reset at the start of each new epoch. Per Aster's docs, the scoring formula is:

Final Points = (Trading points + Position points + Aster Asset points + Liquidation points + Profit-and-Loss points) × Team boost + Referral points

Each category has its own mechanics and update cadence:

Two multipliers sit outside the five categories. Team boosts accumulate across the whole of Stage 6 without resetting weekly. Referral points reach two levels deep, with first-level invitees generating more points than second-level ones.

What's still unknown

The airdrop's existence is confirmed; its economics aren't. Aster hasn't published a points-to-token ratio, hasn't disclosed the total allocation reserved for Stage 6, and hasn't set a public end date. Anyone quoting an expected dollar value per point — in a tweet, a spreadsheet, or a "point calculator" — is guessing, not reporting.

The categories and boosts above are specific to Stage 6. Aster's program has changed shape between stages before, and nothing guarantees this formula, these boosts, or these cadences carry into whatever stage comes next. Treat this page as a snapshot, not a permanent rulebook.

The sharp edges

Read the formula again and the incentive design is plain: it rewards risk-taking, not just activity. Position points scale with the size and duration of a leveraged position — you're paid for staying bigger and staying in longer, regardless of whether that's a good idea. Liquidation points go further: you are literally awarded points for being liquidated, and higher liquidation fees produce a larger reward.

Deliberately sizing up and holding leveraged exposure to farm those two categories is functionally identical to the behavior that destroys trading accounts. A points program that pays out on liquidation doesn't make liquidation cheaper or safer — it just means the incentive layer and your account balance can move in opposite directions at once. Before sizing a position around a points strategy, read how perpetuals actually work and our risk disclosure. The Profit-and-Loss category is the one part of the formula that at least points the right way: it rewards not losing money.

Referral points aren't the referral program

The two-level referral points inside the Final Points formula are part of the airdrop-points program itself — they add directly to your Stage 6 score. That's a separate mechanism from Aster's fee-rebate referral program, which pays out in trading-fee discounts rather than points; we cover that on our Aster referral page. Both run in parallel, both are real, and they shouldn't be confused when comparing numbers.

FAQ

Do Aster points actually convert into an airdrop?
Yes, officially. Aster's own Stage 6 documentation states that points accumulate toward an $ASTER airdrop share at the conclusion of the stage. The conversion ratio, total allocation, and exact end date aren't published — the commitment is verified, the payout terms aren't.

When do points reset?
Weekly, at the start of each epoch — Monday 00:00 UTC.

Do liquidations really earn points?
Yes, per Aster's own docs — liquidations generate Liquidation points, and higher liquidation fees yield more of them. That's a documented fact about the program's design, not a suggestion to get liquidated on purpose. Treat it as a warning about the incentive structure, not an invitation to use it.
